Step 1: Solve a problem!
There’s one secret behind selling stuff online easily: solving problems. You need to be solving a problem that your prospect has or think that they have.
If you’re trying to sell something to someone who doesn’t actually have a problem, it’s going be really difficult to sell that product or service.
Imagine trying to sell a healthy lifestyle to someone who doesn’t value healthy food, who doesn’t value being active, and looking after their health… It’s going to be really hard for you to convince them!
Quite often, people will have a wonderful experience with something and they think “oh, I can sell this to a lot of people, and make a ton of money”. Then they try to find the people who will want that thing that they’ve had a great experience with, but those people aren’t actually looking for that solution, or maybe they don’t have a problem in the first place.
Take this into account!
Here are two scenarios when selling online:
- Trying to sell something to someone who already has a problem: this is the easier one because they’re already looking for a solution and you can offer that.
- Trying to sell something to someone who doesn’t have a problem or think that they have a problem, then you’re going to be relying on your powers of persuasion which are actually harder skills to develop.
Step 2: Get it in front of your audience
After solving a problem with your product or service, all you need to do is get in front of that audience to be able to tell them that you are the solution provider, that you have the solution to the problem they’re trying to solve.
Here you just need to convey the right messages to your audience, to let them know that you’re the right person to go to in order to solve their problem.
If you follow the 2 steps, you will make it so much easier to be able to sell your product or service, because your audience is already looking for it, and you already have a hungry market.
A hungry market makes a huge difference to be able to sell your product, rather than trying to convince people that they have a problem in the first place.
